Summer DANCEcamp 2010

Week 1:

June 28 – July 2

 

Circus:

Come join the Circus with us this week.  We will be dancing to fun circus music and using props such as hoops and ribbons to dance like circus performers.  We will practice our Tumbling skills and use out Balance Beam as a Tightrope.

Improv Dance Week:

Dance comes from all around us.  This week we will explore what inspires us to dance, and create our own dance moves.  We will use our Ballet, Jazz and Modern technique to learn how to “improv” and create our own unique styles.

 

Week 2:

July 5 - 9

 

Beach Party:

Have some Fun in The Sun!  Lots of Jazz and Tap dancing to some classic Beach Boys music and other beach themed music this week along with lots of fun beach crafts.

Dance Party:

This week we will learn lots of line dances, from some old classics to some new favorites.  We will also learn about choreography and work on creating our own dances.

 

Week 3:

July 12 - 16

 

Princesses & Pirates:

This week we will have lots of fun dancing like princesses and pirates.  We will focus on our Ballet technique and also have fun with some other styles of dance, and maybe even walk the plank!!

Broadway Bound:

Our focus this week will be Classic Broadway from Fosse to Jerome Robbins.  We will learn their unique styles, and learn about auditions.  We will also learn some Broadway tap.

 

Week 4:

July 19 - 23

 

Classic Disney:

What is your favorite Disney Movie?  Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, or maybe Snow White?  This week we will be doing Ballet, Tap and Jazz dancing to music from some of our favorite classic Disney movies.

Hip Hop Week:

This week will feature lots of Hip Hop dance styles.  We will work on Break Dancing, Popping & Locking and other styles.  Dancers will also explore other styles of dance and see

 

Week 5:

July 26 - 30

 

Animation:

As much as we love Disney, there are lots of other great animated movies out there.  We will do some fun choreography to music from other cartoon movies this week, and create our own animated crafts as well.

Week 6:

August 2 - 6

 

Cheer Week:

We will be having a great time learning some cheerleading moves, dances, jumps and stunts.  We will also be working on our Jazz technique and making some great Cheer crafts.

Cheer Week:

Bring it On!  We will learn lots of cheer moves, stunts & dances.  We will be using our cheer moves that we learn and some Jazz technique to choreograph our own cool Cheer dances.

 

Week 7:

August 9 - 13

 

Angelina Ballerina:

Let’s have fun dancing like Angelina!   We will make some of our own props to dance with this week, like Angelina’s favorite ribbon sticks and many more.  There will be lots of Ballet and fun creative dance this week as we dance like Angelina.

TV Dance Week:

Do you love “So You Think You Can Dance?” and “Dancing with the Stars”?  This week we will learn lots of different styles of dance including Ballroom and Bollywood and perform our dances for each other.

 

Week 8:

August 16 - 20

 

Disney:

More Disney tunes for our Dancing this week.  Now some current Favorites from Cars to Princess & the Frog, we will be doing more Ballet & Jazz to some great tunes from these movies & some fun crafts as well.

Movie Divas:

This week we will be working on lots of Jazz and Hip Hop moves as we learn some dances from some movies such as High School Musical and Hannah Montana.  We will learn some of their dances as well as make up some of our own to music from these movies.

 

Week 9:

August 23 - 27

 

Broadway Babies:

This week we will dance to some great Broadway tunes from Annie and Peter Pan.  We will learn some Broadway Tap along with our Ballet and Jazz dance this week.

Back on Broadway:

As we travel back to Broadway this week we will be dancing to music from some new Broadway shows such as Shrek, Little Mermaid, Billy Elliot and more.
