We are very excited about our upcoming winter dance production...Nutcracker All Jazz'd Up. The dancers have been working very hard at their rehearsals and the dances are looking great. I hope that many of you plan to attend. The performances are on Saturday December 11 at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday December 12 at 2:00 p.m. The performances will be at Medford High. Our first annual Nutcracker All Jazz'd Up should be quite a treat. The music is very exciting. While the original score to the Nutcracker was used, the music was reorchestrated and has a completely different sound. It will also be fun to see dancers you know performing. The ticket price is $10.00 and the tickets will be available soon. Just a note, Medford High has a small theater, so get your tickets early! Also, there is a sign up sheet if anyone is interested in an outing to see the Boston Ballet's Nutcracker at the Wang Center. We need 25 people, and you must sign up by Nov. 15 so that we can get our tickets. Thanks.

Winter Break: Friday Dec. 24 - Sunday January 2
There are classes on Thursday Nov. 11, Veteran's Day.

Holiday Donations.

Life seems to pick up speed this time of year. The holidays are approaching fast and our to - do lists are never ending, Take some time for yourself and have a stress free season.

1. Laugh. Go to a funny movie, or do something silly with a friend.
2. Take a 12 minute break and walk around the block.
3. Avoid initiating or participating in studio gossip.
4. Set aside a day with no outside activities scheduled.
5. Smile at someone
6. Create a scrapbook from family photos.
7. Turn off the TV
8. Read a book as a family
9. Sit outside and watch the stars.
10. Set up a carpool schedule for your kid's activities so you don't spend your life in the car.
11. Do nothing....and don't feel guilty about it.
12. Take a bubble bath.

One of our new instructors this year in Jamie Larowitz Sherman. She is currently teaching our advanced tap class.

Jamie has been performing as a tap dancers for more than fifteen years. , in the 80's as part of the New York City based Peggy Spina tap Company and more recently in and around Boston as a soloist and collaborator. Credits include ensemble work in Tapestry '99 and Tapestry '98 at Lexington's Museum of our National Heritage, several engagements as guest artist/choreographer with modern dancers Beth Soll & Company, and solo improvising in New York's Swing 46 Tap jam with Buster Brown, and in Bob Thomas' local ongoing show "Jazz on Tap" A native New Yorker, she has studied with many of the first generation Tap masters. Her classes stress clean technique, musicality, and include traditional material as well as encourage students to experiment with improvisation. Ms. Sherman served on the board of directors of the Leon Collins Dance Studio, Inc., a not-for-profit focusing on Jazz Tap dance education, and currently sits on the advisory board of the Cambridge Corale.
